These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Anji Barton Dog Training website (“Website”) and your purchase or use of any services, classes, programs, digital products, memberships, or other offerings provided by Anji Barton Dog Training (“ABDT,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing our Website, booking a service, purchasing a product, registering for a class or program, or otherwise engaging our services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our Website or purchase or use our services.

Our services are intended to be purchased and used by individuals 18 years of age or older.

1. Services

ABDT provides dog training and related educational services, which may include:

• Private dog training
• Puppy training
• Group classes and puppy socials
• Day Training
• Online courses and educational programs
• Digital products and resources
• Subscription-based memberships and programs
• Other dog training services offered from time to time

ABDT’s training approach is force-free, humane, and informed by current behavioural science and evidence-based training practices.

The specific services, inclusions, prices, and conditions applicable to a particular purchase will be communicated at the time of booking or purchase.

2. Booking & Payment

Payment is required according to the terms presented at the time of booking or purchase.

By purchasing a service, you agree to provide accurate and complete information necessary to process your booking and deliver the service.

ABDT may use third-party payment processors to process transactions. We do not generally store complete credit card information ourselves.

Prices are stated in Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.

ABDT reserves the right to change prices, services, programs, or offerings at any time. Changes will not affect purchases already completed unless otherwise stated.

3. Private Training Packages

Private training packages are subject to the following terms:

• A full refund is available if a package is cancelled more than 3 days before the first scheduled session.
• No refunds are available within 3 days of or after the first scheduled session.
• An exception may be made where a dog becomes seriously ill or passes away.
• Packages expire 6 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable after expiry.
• Clients who become non-responsive for more than 7 days after training has begun, excluding documented emergencies, may forfeit refund eligibility.

ABDT may make reasonable exceptions at its discretion where circumstances warrant.

4. Scheduling, Cancellations & No-Shows

Private Training Sessions

Private training sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice.

Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, as well as no-shows, are not eligible for a refund, credit, or replacement session.

If ABDT needs to cancel or reschedule a session, we will provide reasonable notice whenever possible and the session will be credited or rescheduled.

Day Training

Day Training sessions cannot be cancelled or rescheduled once booked unless otherwise agreed by ABDT.

Emergencies

ABDT may make reasonable exceptions to its cancellation policies in cases involving documented emergencies or circumstances outside the client’s reasonable control.

5. Group Classes & Puppy Socials

Unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase:

• Group classes and puppy socials are non-refundable and non-transferable.
• Fixed-schedule classes cannot be deferred to a future session.
• Missed classes do not include make-up sessions.
• Clients are responsible for attending the scheduled classes at the times provided.

ABDT reserves the right to modify class dates, instructors, locations, or formats where reasonably necessary.

If ABDT cancels a class or program, clients will receive an appropriate credit, rescheduling option, or refund as determined by ABDT.

6. Online Courses & Digital Products

Unless otherwise stated:

• Sales of digital products, downloadable resources, and online courses are final and non-refundable.
• Digital products and course materials are licensed for the purchaser’s personal use only.
• Materials may not be copied, reproduced, resold, redistributed, published, or shared without written permission from ABDT.

Access to online courses, memberships, and digital products may be subject to additional terms presented at the time of purchase.

7. Memberships & Subscriptions

Memberships and subscription-based programs may be cancelled at any time unless otherwise specified in the applicable program terms.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

No partial refunds are provided for unused portions of a billing period unless otherwise stated or required by law.

ABDT may change membership features, pricing, content, or benefits from time to time. Where appropriate, members will receive notice of material changes.

8. Health, Safety & Vaccination Requirements

Clients are responsible for providing accurate information about their dog’s health, behaviour, vaccination status, and relevant history.

For in-person services, clients may be required to provide proof of:

• Age-appropriate vaccinations, including Rabies and other vaccinations reasonably required for the environment;
• appropriate parasite prevention where applicable; and
• freedom from contagious illness.

Dogs displaying symptoms of a contagious illness should not attend in-person training sessions or group classes.

Clients must notify ABDT if their dog develops a contagious illness or has been exposed to a contagious illness that could reasonably pose a risk to other dogs or people.

ABDT reserves the right to postpone, modify, or terminate a session where a dog’s health or safety, or the health or safety of others, may be at risk.

ABDT is not a veterinary service. Training recommendations are not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis or treatment. Clients should consult an appropriately qualified veterinary professional regarding medical concerns.

9. Humane Treatment Policy

ABDT is committed to humane, force-free, evidence-based dog training.

Physical punishment, intimidation, or aversive handling are not permitted during services provided by ABDT.

This includes, but is not limited to:

• hitting or physically punishing a dog;
• yelling at or intentionally intimidating a dog;
• choking or hanging a dog;
• use of shock collars;
• use of prong collars; and
• other methods that cause pain, fear, or intimidation.

If a client persistently uses methods that are inconsistent with ABDT’s humane treatment standards during a training service, ABDT may terminate the service.

Where services are terminated for violation of this policy, refunds will be determined in accordance with the circumstances and applicable refund policy.

10. Trainer & Community Conduct

ABDT is committed to maintaining a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment.

Clients are expected to treat trainers, staff, other clients, volunteers, and community members respectfully.

The following conduct is not permitted:

• harassment;
• bullying;
• threats;
• abusive or discriminatory behaviour;
• intimidation;
• repeated disruptive behaviour;
• attending services while intoxicated; or
• conduct that creates a safety concern.

ABDT may terminate or refuse services where a client’s conduct creates a safety concern or materially interferes with the provision of services.

11. Group Class Suitability

For group classes and puppy socials, dogs should be reasonably suited to a group environment.

Depending on the program, dogs may be required to:

• be comfortable enough around people and dogs to participate safely;
• not display behaviour that presents an unreasonable safety risk;
• be free of contagious illness; and
• meet any additional requirements communicated for the specific class.

Female dogs in heat may not attend in-person group classes unless otherwise approved by ABDT.

ABDT may determine that a dog is not currently suitable for a particular group environment.

Where a dog is removed from a group class because the environment is not appropriate for that dog, ABDT may, at its discretion:

• apply unused fees toward private training; or
• provide a pro-rated refund.

Any refund request related to removal from a class should be made within 14 days of the dog’s removal.

12. Training Outcomes & No Guarantees

Dog behaviour is influenced by many factors, including the dog’s individual history, genetics, environment, health, learning history, and the consistency with which training recommendations are implemented.

ABDT does not guarantee any particular training or behavioural outcome.

In particular, ABDT makes no guarantees regarding:

• elimination of a behavioural concern;
• future reliability of trained behaviours;
• the speed of behavioural change;
• duration of training results; or
• how a dog will behave in future circumstances.

Training outcomes depend in part on the client’s participation, consistency, environment, and implementation of recommendations.

13. Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for:

• providing accurate and complete information about their dog;
• informing ABDT of relevant medical, behavioural, or safety concerns;
• following veterinary recommendations where relevant;
• supervising their dog appropriately;
• implementing training recommendations responsibly;
• informing ABDT of significant changes in their dog’s health or behaviour; and
• ensuring that other members of their household are aware of relevant training and safety recommendations.

Clients remain responsible for their dog’s behaviour and safety outside of sessions.

14. Session Recording & AI-Assisted Documentation

To support accurate session documentation and personalized training plans, ABDT may audio-record training sessions in which the client participates.

Recordings may be transcribed or summarized using third-party technology and AI-assisted services to assist with session notes, training plans, recommendations, and follow-up communications.

By accepting these Terms, you acknowledge that session recording and AI-assisted documentation may occur as described in the ABDT Privacy Policy.

Clients may request that a particular session not be recorded. Choosing not to have a session recorded will not prevent the client from receiving training services; however, ABDT may rely on written notes and observations when preparing session documentation and training plans.

For information about the collection, use, storage, processing, retention, and disclosure of information associated with session recordings and AI-assisted documentation, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

If other individuals will participate in a recorded session, clients should inform those individuals that the session may be recorded and ensure that any required consent is obtained.

15. Photos, Videos & Media

ABDT may take photographs or videos during training sessions, classes, events, or other activities.

ABDT will not use identifiable photographs, videos, or client information for advertising, promotional purposes, social media, or other public-facing purposes without appropriate consent.

Where media consent is requested, clients may choose whether to provide that consent. Refusing media consent will not affect the client’s ability to receive services.

Clients may also provide photographs or videos to ABDT for purposes related to training and service delivery. By voluntarily providing such materials, the client authorizes ABDT to use them for the purpose for which they were provided.

16. Intellectual Property

All content provided by ABDT, including but not limited to:

• training plans;
• written recommendations;
• handouts;
• worksheets;
• videos;
• course materials;
• digital products;
• graphics;
• photographs;
• logos;
• website content; and
• other educational materials

is owned by or licensed to ABDT unless otherwise stated.

Materials provided to clients are for their personal use and may not be copied, reproduced, distributed, resold, published, modified for commercial use, or otherwise exploited without written permission from ABDT.

Clients may use their individualized training plans and recommendations for the personal training of their own dog.

17. Website Use

The Website is provided for general informational and business purposes.

While ABDT makes reasonable efforts to ensure that Website information is accurate and current, we do not guarantee that all Website content will always be complete, accurate, current, or error-free.

ABDT may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue Website content or functionality at any time.

You agree not to use the Website for unlawful purposes or in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Website or interfere with another person’s use of it.

18. Third-Party Websites & Services

The Website and our communications may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites, applications, products, or services.

ABDT is not responsible for the content, availability, privacy practices, security, or terms of third-party services.

Your use of third-party services is subject to the terms and policies of those third parties.

19. Liability & Assumption of Risk

Working with animals involves inherent risks, including the possibility of injury, illness, escape, property damage, or unpredictable behaviour.

By participating in ABDT services, clients acknowledge these inherent risks and agree to take reasonable precautions to protect themselves, their household members, other people, and their animals.

Clients remain responsible for supervising and managing their dogs and for implementing training recommendations appropriately.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ABDT will not be responsible for loss, injury, illness, escape, property damage, or other harm arising from a client’s dog or from circumstances outside ABDT’s reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, clients agree to indemnify and hold harmless ABDT from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, or expenses arising from the client’s actions, omissions, or failure to comply with these Terms, except to the extent caused by ABDT’s own negligence or other liability that cannot legally be excluded.

20. Termination of Services

ABDT may terminate or refuse services where:

• a dog presents an unreasonable safety risk;
• a client breaches these Terms;
• a client engages in abusive, threatening, or inappropriate conduct;
• a client repeatedly violates ABDT’s humane treatment policy;
• the service is no longer appropriate for the dog or client; or
• continued provision of services would otherwise create a significant safety, legal, or operational concern.

Where services are terminated, any refund or credit will be determined in accordance with the applicable refund policy and the circumstances of the termination.

21. Privacy

Your use of the Website and ABDT services is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information.

By using our services, you acknowledge that you have reviewed the Privacy Policy.

Where a particular activity requires separate consent—for example, certain marketing communications, media use, or session recording—ABDT may request that consent separately.

22. Electronic Communications

By communicating with ABDT electronically, including by email, text message, online forms, or other electronic means, you consent to receiving communications electronically where permitted by law.

Service-related communications may include appointment confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, payment information, training follow-ups, and other communications necessary to provide the services you have requested.

You may unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time using the applicable unsubscribe mechanism or by contacting ABDT.

Unsubscribing from marketing communications does not prevent ABDT from sending necessary service-related communications.

23. Force Majeure

ABDT will not be responsible for delays or inability to provide services caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Such circumstances may include severe weather, natural disasters, emergencies, illness, power or internet outages, government restrictions, facility closures, or other events that make providing services impractical or unsafe.

Where reasonably possible, ABDT will provide notice and offer rescheduling, credit, or another appropriate remedy.

24. Changes to These Terms

ABDT may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, business practices, or legal requirements.

When material changes are made, we may provide notice through the Website, email, or other reasonable means.

The updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.

Your continued use of ABDT services after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, to the extent permitted by law.

25. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or limited to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect to the extent permitted by law.

26. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the applicable laws of Canada.

Subject to any mandatory rights or remedies available under applicable law, any dispute arising from these Terms or the services provided by ABDT will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
